mein Computer ist im Moment in der Reparatur daher nur sporadische Updates. Letzten Freitag haben wir an einem Kubb Tournament teilgenommen und kläglich verloren. Naja, zumindest ein Spiel von dreien haben wir gewonnen. Aber ins Finale haben wir es damit nicht geschafft... ansonsten war mein Wochenende ereignislos, was auch ganz nett war. Sonntags war ich shoppen, neue Pullis, warme Strumpfhosen und Pumps. Das alles wurde heute auf die Willkommensgala getragen. Allerdings musste man da viel stehen daher hab ich irgendwann zu Turnschuhen gewechselt. Die Gala fand im Gustavanium statt und diesmal hab ich es auch ins Anatomie Theater geschafft. Der Raum wurde früher genutzt um Medizinstudenten an Autopsien teilnehmen zu lassen und ist echt sehenswert. Die Ränge sind so konzipiert, dass man nicht umfällt wenn man bewusstlos wird und die wandfarben sind so gewählt, dass man die Flecken nicht so sieht wenn sich mal einer übergibt.
My computer is currently being repaired so there is only going to be sporadic updates. Last Friday we participated in a Kubb tournament and lost. Well, at least we won one game or of 3. But we did not make it to the finales this way. Other than that my weekend was really not exciting which was nice. Sundays i went shopping for new sweaters, warm tights, and heels which I was wearing for the welcome reception. But we had to stand a lot during that so I switched to sneakers after a while. The reception was at Gustavanium and this time I also made it to the anatomical theater. This room was used to show dissections to medical students and is very recommendable to go see. The ranks are designed so you can't fall over when you faint and the colors of the wall are chosen so you don't see the stains when someone threw up.

kulturnatten
Gestern war kulturnatten (Kulturnacht) in Uppsala. Trotz des Namens fing das Ganze schon morgens an. Kunstausstellungen, Tanzgruppen und Musik in der ganzen Stadt verteilt und dazu noch Sonderveranstaltungen in den Museen und anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Ich bin zuerst zum botanischen Garten. Dieser liegt direkt neben meiner Arbeit wo ich vorher noch vorbei musste um zu schauen ob mein Fahrrad noch da steht. Hatte am Abend zuvor beim Whiskey Club etwas zuviel Bier getrunken und wollte dann nicht mehr fahren.
Yesterday was kulturnatten (culture night) in Uppsala. Despite the name it started early morning. There were art exhibitions, dance groups and music spread all over town and also special events in the museums and other sights.
I first went to the botanical gardens which are right beside my work, where I had to go to see whether my bike was still there. I had a bit too much beer at whiskey club the night before and I didn't want to bike after that.
Danach bin ich in die Stadt und war etwas bummeln bis ich mich dann mit ein paar Freundinnen getroffen habe. Wir haben uns den Dom angesehen, die höchste Kirche Skandinaviens, in der einige Könige und Linné begraben liegen.
After that I went downtown to stroll though some stores. I met some friends and we went and visited the Uppsala Cathedral. It's the highest church in Scandinavia and some kings and Linnaeus is buried there.
Danach ging es noch ins Gustavianum, das älteste noch stehende Universitätsgebäude. Dieses ist nun zum Teil ein Museum in dem vorallem Kuriositäten ausgestellt werden. Es hat eine Anatomieabteilung, eine ägyptische mit Mumien und die Abteilung mit der Augsburger Kunstkammer: eine aufwendig gezimmerte Truhe mit versteckten Türen und Schubladen die sich nur in bestimmten Kombinationen öffnen lassen. Darin wurde allerlei Sammelsurium der ganzen Welt aufbewahrt, ein Spielzeug und Wunderkabinet für die Reichen.
After that we went to the Gustavianum. This is the oldest, still standing building of the university. It is now partly a museum that exhibits mostly curiosities. There is an egyptian section with mummies, an anatomy section, and th section with the Augsburg art cabinet. The art cabinet is a very elaborately worked chest with hidden drawers and doors that can only be opened in certain combinations. In it is a whole collection of weird things from all over the world. It was a toy and a curiosity cabinet for the rich.
Zum Abschluss des Abends ging es noch chinesisch Essen.
The end of the evening we spent eating at a chinese restaurant.
Sonst gibt es nur zu erzählen das ich mittlerweile einen Flug nach China gebucht habe: eine Woche Workshop in Shenzen mit einer anschließenden Woche Urlaub in Hong Kong. War da schonmal jemand? Irgendwelche Tips oder Empfehlungen?
Other than that I can only tell you that by now I have booked a flight to China: One week workshop in Shenzen and another week holiday in Hong Kong. Has anyone been there before? Any advice or recommendation?
